Jamie Goodwin's U*U Crisis Of Faith. . .

Another one bites the dust. . .

Jamie Goodwin somewhat innocently presented an online survey to his congregation in regards to service times at the Unitarian*Universalist Church of Akron. Included in his survey was a place to leave comments. Many of the responses were neutral and not a few supportive but, according to Jamie Goodwin, "there were many, many comments left on that survey which are just mean spirited, unfair, and flat out rude."

Jamie Goodwin is wondering, very seriously considering, if Unitarian Universalism is the right faith for him.

Jamie Goodwin is wondering if a faith that remains creedless and unwilling to address matters of theology is conducive at all to any kind of healthy and caring community because he is not seeing it.

Jamie Goodwin sees a lot of infighting and righteous anger. He sees a lot of people assuming that because they do not acknowledge any kind of spiritual authority means that they do not have to respect anyone else's viewpoint or knowledge. He is seeing a lot selfishness and arrogance.

At one point Jamie Goodwin even had a resignation letter all typed out. Not resigning from the board at his church or even the worship council, but from the entire church - from Unitarian Universalism as a whole.
