Pull Up To The Bumper U*Us! ;-)

Apparently U*U evangelist Peter Bowden decided against including CUC Executive Director Mary Bennett`s all-inclusive asterisk in these U*U promotional "car stickers" for some unfathomable reason. ;-)

Come to think of it. . .

U*U media consultant, TV producer, and propagandist Peter Bowden also decided against calling these U*U promotional "car stickers" "bumper stickers" for some unfathomable reason.

Pull Up To The Bumper U*Us!

Oops!

Apparently I spoke a bit too soon about Peter Bowden avoiding use of the term "bumper stickers". . . Can U*Us say "bumber stickers"? ;-)

Actual quote from the page - "If you are a Unitarian Universalist, let the world know! Choose from a wide variety of UU bumber stickers including oval car stickers."

ROTFLMU*UO yet again!

1. Americans generally haven't heard of U*U and it is not a legal part of the name. I've only ever heard you talk about it, so i'm taking you at your word that Canadian UUs know what you're talking about.

2. Peter Bowden is an American.

I'm not sure which of those facts you didn't know. I've seen people tell you the first fact and I've reminded you myself. But if you have forgotten either fact, would it have been so hard for you to look them up?

Also, since SUVs became popular in America, people often do not put oval stickers like that on their bumper, choosing instead to put them on top right corner of the car's rear window. (Which on an SUV with a totally vertical rear window makes them easier to read as they are at roughly eye-level.)

Thus "bumper sticker" is arguably less accurate for that kind of sticker as for most people it brings to mind the larger rectangular stickers more common in previous decades.

It was smart of Bowden to use both terms so that people searching for either term would find his page. People whose cars have rear windows that are at an angle often still put the stickers on bumpers.

And yes, there's a typo. You do love to point out UU typos. You do it on my blog all the time.

Was God's plan for your to spend your time pointing out UU typos on the internet and writing blog posts making fun of bumper sticker terminology that you don't understand?

This is the sort of post of yours that depresses those of us who think you might actually have a message for the world. UUs aren't preventing you from spreading the word, you're choosing to waste your time on poorly-thought-out attacks on minor flaws of individual UUs.

:1. Americans generally haven't heard of U*U and it is not a legal part of the name.

I am quite aware of that however I am also quite sure that I have brought Mary Bennett's all-inclusive U*U "corporate identity" to the attention of a fair number of U*Us on the internet. In fact I am quite certain that I directly brought it to Peter Bowden's attention in the past.

:I've only ever heard you talk about it, so i'm taking you at your word that Canadian UUs know what you're talking about.

You don't need to take my word for it CC when you can take Mary Bennett's word for it, to say nothing of that of other Canadian U*Us and indeed international U*Us.

:2. Peter Bowden is an American.

I am quite aware of that CC. Of course, according to CUC Executive Director Mary Bennett, Peter Bowden is also an U*U, as are all Unitarian*Universalists aka U*Us in her all-inclusive "corporate identity" for UUs. ;-)

:I'm not sure which of those facts you didn't know.

None of them. i.e. I was quite aware of all of those facts CC.

:I've seen people tell you the first fact and I've reminded you myself. But if you have forgotten either fact, would it have been so hard for you to look them up?

As I said. I was quite aware of all those facts. They just happen to be less than relevant here in that, at least in Mary Bennett's mind, and the minds of other U*Us, all UUS are U*Us.

:Also, since SUVs became popular in America, people often do not put oval stickers like that on their bumper, choosing instead to put them on top right corner of the car's rear window. (Which on an SUV with a totally vertical rear window makes them easier to read as they are at roughly eye-level.)

I am aware of that.

:Thus "bumper sticker" is arguably less accurate for that kind of sticker as for most people it brings to mind the larger rectangular stickers more common in previous decades.

Actually oval bumper stickers that identify which country a person hails from with a two letter "country code" have always been very common. I have little doubt that such oval bumper stickers were the direct inspiration for Peter Bowden's oval bumper stickers that let people know that the car's occupants hail from the so-called UU World with a two-letter code. . .

:It was smart of Bowden to use both terms so that people searching for either term would find his page.

Of course. Ditto for me don't you think CC. ;-) Heck maybe Peter even deliberately wrote "bumber stickers" so that people searching for "bumber stickers" would find his page. . .

:People whose cars have rear windows that are at an angle often still put the stickers on bumpers.

Yup. I seem to recall that Rev. Ray Drennan had a large gas-guzzling station wagon that had a bumper sticker that said -

Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty

We all know how he practiced not so random acts of intolerance and senseless acts of bigotry don't we?

:And yes, there's a typo.

Unless of course Peter Bowden really did deliberately write "bumber sticker" so that people searching for "bumber stickers" would find his page. ;-)

:You do love to point out UU typos. You do it on my blog all the time.

All the time? Aren't you blowing things out of proportion a bit CC? In any case, on the comparatively rare occasions that I do give people a heads up about typos and spelling errors, I am usually just trying to help someone correct a mistake. Some U*U bloggers even express gratitude for my efforts.

:Was God's plan for your to spend your time pointing out UU typos on the internet and writing blog posts making fun of bumper sticker terminology that you don't understand?

Not likely CC, but I do like to be helpful and I do need to have a little bit of fun every now and then.

:This is the sort of post of yours that depresses those of us who think you might actually have a message for the world.

Wonderful. (sarcasm) A humorous post that pokes at little bit of fun at U*Us "depresses" CC. I doubt anyone else is all that depressed by it. And just where are all these U*Us who think I "might actually have a message for the world" anyway CC? It seems to me that if there were any such U*Us that they would make an effort to condemn both the Unitarian Church of Montreal and the UUA for seriously harming my ability to deliver any messages that I just might have for the world. . . I do in fact have a message or two for the world, and I continue to deliver those messages CC. I even delivered one of my most important messages for the world again earlier today. But I also engaged in my "alternative spiritual practice" of delivering some much needed messages to the U*U World earlier today when I once again protested against U*U injustices, abuses and hypocrisy in front of the Unitarian Church of Montreal.

:UUs aren't preventing you from spreading the word,

Wrong again CC. Intolerant and abusive U*Us like Rev. Ray Drennan, Frank Greene and John Inder, (just for starters. . .) as well as all those other DIM Thinking U*Us who continue to Deny, Ignore or Minimize their deeply insulting and seriously defamatory personal attacks on me and who do absolutely nothing to help me clear my name from such U*U slanders, are most certainly inhibiting and even seriously damaging my ability to spread the word. Why do you think I am protesting with signs that say CULT IS A FOUR LETTER WORD and "CHURCH" OF THE PSYCHOTIC REACTION CC? Just for fun? I expect U*Us to responsibly clear my name so that I do not have such slanderous allegations about me harming my ability to spread the word.

:you're choosing to waste your time on poorly-thought-out attacks on minor flaws of individual UUs.

My post about UU "bumper stickers" is hardly "poorly-thought-out" and, besides poking a bit of reasonably good humored fun at U*Us, it actually hints at some major flaws of individual U*Us, and indeed the whole wide U*U World, including certain "poorly-thought-out" attacks on individuals committed by Unitarian*Universalist aka U*U clergy and condoned by top-level UUA administrators such as Rev. Tracey Robinson-Harris and Rev. Beth Miller to say nothing of UUA President Bill Sinkford. . .

heh

"all over the internet" (obviously a figure of speech indicating that there are lots of posts that state what Rev. Ray Drennan said to me)

The fact of the matter is that what Rev. Ray Drennan said to me is available to be read on numerous and diverse parts of the internet indrax, as this Google search shows, so it is quite reasonable for me to use that figure of speech. It is considerably less reasonable for ChaliceChick to accuse me of pointing out typos on her blog "all the time" when in reality I have only done it a handful of times.

Thanks for contibruting today's dose of U*U pettiness.

Ok, is this the chronology you're describing?

1. You made fun of the U*U thing that most people haven't heard of on Bowden's blog.

2. He ignored you because some silly thing some Canadian UU said has no bearing on American UUs and because people usually ignore you.

3. He made some stickers that didn't use the asterisk you had made fun of.

4. So you posted about the fact that he didn't use this thing that people haven't heard of, isn't relevant to him and that you thought was stupid?

And you knew that people usually don't put the smaller bumper stickers on bumpers. But you decided to make fun of him for also referring to them as car stickers, though you seem to recognize people do put them on cars and that "car stickers" is a common term for them, because...?

Anyway, that's why I said they were poorly thought out. If anyone thinks about your post a tiny bit, your jokes aren't funny at all because they don't make any sense.

I apologize if it's such a big deal that I said you correct my typos "all the time." I didn't expect you to take me quite so literally.

Your apology is hereby accepted CC.

Actually your comments above are considerably more poorly thought out than anything that I have posted in this thread. Are you quite sure that you`re not drinking and blogging again CC? I seem to recall that you have been BUI in the past. . . ;-)

I can assure you that this particular Emerson Avenger blog post has already elicited some guffaws from a few non-U*Us who have seen it, and I fully expect that it will continue to do so. I believe that we have already pointed out how, regardless of some silly thing some Canadian UU said, the UU "corporate identity" can quite readily be seen as a pair of buttocks, albeit without Mary Bennett`s rather more suggestive and "offensive" all-inclusive asterisk. . .

It should be fairly obvious that it is Mary Bennett`s all-inclusive U*U that is the inspiration and the ultimate *butt* of my little joke here. The fact remains however that, even without an asterisk*hole, UU can be seen as a pair of buttocks aka an ass too. Either way, once the asterisk is out of the bag. . . UU aka U*U "both/and/or/or reversed" (to use Mary Bennett`s asinine words) can be quite readily perceived as asses. I know it`s a bit of a bumber 4 U CC but I think that it`s going to stick. . . ;-)
