Lynn Mershon Calvin Kicks *The* Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris In The Balls With A Little Bit Of Help From Teresa Nielsen Hayden. . .

In the following comment posted to the rather questionable 'The View Of Berkeley From Here Is Downhill' post of ever so "Christian" U*U minister Rev. Scott Wells' 'Boy In The Bands' blog -

I’ll add in to the analysis – (I was one of the group that worked through the process of the life ban from UUA lists and I was on his list for a very long time.)

Teresa Nielsen Hayden has a long analysis about moderation here:

One of the things Teresa says is “What I can do is refuse to respect bloggers and other site administrators who let it flourish on their own sites, or who provide cover for the anonymous vandals who post it.”

So Lynn Mershon Calvin aka Lynn Calvin just how much respect do you suppose that Teresa Nielsen Hayden, or indeed the dreaded Emerson Avenger. . . might have for "resigned" UUA Director of Congregational Services Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and the "laid off" Ministerial *Fellowship* Committee Executive Secretary Rev. Beth Miller who *both* effectively ruled that "less than polite" aka "graceless and rude" Unitarian*Universalist ministers can insult and defame people to their corpse-cold Unitarian hearts' content as long as they do so under the cowardly cover of internet anonymity?

If you guessed "not bloody much" you are right on the money AFA*I*AC. . .

I haven't read the interactions you describe, so I can't pass judgment on them. However, taken solely as an abstract principle, the idea that "it's all right to flame people hairless, as long as you do so anonymously" just purely sucks.

Thanks for your comment here Teresa.

Read this string of "electronic communications" between your's truly and former UUA Congregational Services Director Rev. Dr. Tracey Robinson-Harris and weep. . .

The key sentence says -

It is the case that in this situation the minister’s blog is anonymous ( though you were able to identify the individual) and that she is free to express her opinions and to do so outside of her professional role as a minister serving a congregation.

This idiotic ruling effectively means that any and all U*U ministers can "flame people hairless" as you so aptly put it, with complete impunity, zero accountability whatsoever, not so much as a reprimand. . . as long as these verbally and psychologically abusive U*U ministers do so anonymously. . .
