The New UUA Branding Logo Looks Like A Rocket Propelled Condom Entering A Vagina

But don't take *my* word for it U*Us. . .

Take the word of David Wadleigh, as posted in this comment on this UU World magazine Facebook page post.

Without further ado, albeit with some (im)pertinent hyperlinks added. . . here is David Wadleigh's comment and my two comments responding to it, as copied and pasted here, from that UU World Facebook page dedicated to introducing The President's New Condom as it were. . .

  • David Wadleigh It looks like a rocket propelled condom entering a vagina to me. I don't appreciate people attempting to shame me and shut me up by claiming this is all a sign of the things in my head. I didn't like the logo we had either and was looking forward to getting one I might like again, the way I liked the chalice with two circles that came before it. Somehow, this logo managed to take a UU who knows what we are and knows about chalices and letter Us as symbols, and is welcoming to a new logo, and completely disappoint me. About 5 seconds after first seeing it I was consumed with gales of laughter and will forever think of this as the condom and uterus logo. I also simply do not see how this new logo communicates anything at all about us, or about who we are, to people who don't know us. I think they would guess something about the olympics or the salvation army. At its best, it is no improvement on what we had.
  • Vancouver Unitarians What do you think of the new UUA logo? For that matter, what do you think of the Vancouver Unitarians logo or the Canadian Unitarian Council logo?
  • Robin Edgar "We want congregations to think about the messages their congregations are sending out to the world that doesn't know anything about them," said the Rev. Dr. Terasa Cooley, the UUA's Officer for Vision and Strategy."

I think the UUA needs to think about what message it is sending out to the world with its poorly conceived and executed "Vision and Strategy" of falsely accusing me of the archaic crime of blasphemous libel in immoral, unethical, and borderline criminal legal bullying that seeks to hide the fact that certain Unitarian Universalist ministers, to say nothing of UUA RE teachers. . . are in fact guilty of committing "such despicable crimes as pedophilia and rape."

As far as I am concerned, the fact that this new UUA logo depicts a rocket-propelled phallus plunging down into what many commenters see as a vagina or uterus could not do a better job of symbolizing the UUA's decades worth of complicity in all manner of UU clergy sexual misconduct. Heck, it can even be seen as commemorating Peacebang's "sodomy fantasy". If you don't know what Peacebang's "sodomy fantasy" actually imagined I would suggest running appropriate Google searches. Here's a clue, it involved a Republican state senator and the Statue of Liberty's torch. . .

It is going to be a long time before the UUA lives down the sexual imagery that is readily perceivable in this new branding logo, in fact it will probably outlive the short shelf-life of this new logo itself. . .

My take on the UUA's logo fiasco may be read in recent The Emerson Avenger blog posts.

David, in light of the fact that your own perception that the new UUA condom, oops I mean logo, "looks like a rocket propelled condom entering a vagina", and the fact that you are FAR from the only person to have the very same or very similar perceptions of UUA Emperor Morales' new "clothes" for the UUA, suggests to me that, rather than guessing "something about the olympics or the salvation army", the American public will actually be guessing something about "a rocket propelled condom entering a vagina"... which, in light of the fact that 400+ UUA congregations have been negatively affected by one form of clergy sexual misconduct or another, with many of those cases of UUA CSM involving heterosexual male ministers coveting their congregants' wives. . . actually communicates quite a lot about the UUA and its decades worth of complicity in UU clergy sexual misconduct.

    No?

Can U*Us say Rev. Dr. Forrest Church?

How about Rev. Calvin Oh Oh Dame?

I will allow U*Us to guess names of the hundreds of other "less than perfect" U*U ministers whose legacies of clergy sexual misconduct this UUA logo apparently commemorates and apparently even quite happily celebrates. . .
